fine Art & handcrafted goods inspired by Nature.
I create original watercolor, acrylic, and linocut art rooted in southern landscapes, wildlife, and quiet moments. I also design prints and handmade pieces for collectors, gift-givers, and market patrons.
A short Greeting
Hello! I’m Ellie Dean, an artist based in Lafayette, Louisiana. My passion in art is inspired by nature, life, and wonder. Southern landscapes, wildlife, and the grounding experience of nature is what inspires my work.
I love to experiment with texture, color, and storytelling. My goal is to capture seemingly insignificant moments that still carry a sense of weight, memory, and nostalgia.
The Journey Home (2025)
featured Work
Gouache on watercolor paper, 5×7in
This vertical landscape painting focuses on a single pathway that extends into the distance, flanked by lush foliage on both sides. Gouache has been used to create layers of opaque surfaces, and changes in the intensity of greens are employed to create depth and space. The treatment of vegetation relies on form and patterning rather than individualism. This painting relates to landscapes through experience and not necessarily through a specific place, with influences drawn from southern settings.
find Me in Person
I regularly sell my work at local markets and festivals across southern Louisiana. Photos cannot fully capture the texture, color, and scale of my work, so please consider paying me a visit!

Light settles before anything else does.
There’s no urgency here—just warmth stretching across fur, wood, and air. The moment lingers long enough to feel earned, like rest that wasn’t planned but found anyway.
Watercolor on 11×14 inch cold press paper, 2025.
Original painting available and matted with gallery white matting.
A close, intimate portrait of a black dog emerging from cool water, its amber eyes catching light against a dense, textured coat. Loose watercolor and gouache brushwork create movement through the rippling surface, while the softened mountain backdrop keeps the focus on expression—steady, alert, and quietly human.

“Old Yellow Home” captures a quiet moment of Southern architecture framed by the movement of a leaning tree. The house, with its warm yellow siding, green shutters, and detailed trim, sits grounded behind bold red steps—rooted and familiar.
The foreground tree cuts across the composition, partially obscuring the structure and creating a layered sense of depth, as if the viewer has paused mid-walk to take it in. Light filters through the leaves, softening the scene while still allowing the strong colors and shapes to hold their presence.
This piece balances structure and interruption—where the built environment and the natural world overlap, each shaping how the other is seen.
